Centre for African Health

CAH is a non-profit sharing and non-political charitable organisation dedicated to working to improve access to good health. The organisation was formed and registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria in 2004. The organisation is managed by a Board of Trustees who volunteer their time in support of the charities vision, mission and objectives.

Aims and objectives of the organisation

  • The advancement of education and the relief of sickness in Africa and in particular Nigeria
  • To contribute to the improvement in quality, access and promotion of basic health care in Nigeria
  • To increase the awareness of health issues affecting Nigerians
  • To collaborate with organisations and people with similar objectives
  • To organise proactive programmes to prevent ill-health
  • To provide fair access to safe and effective health advice, drugs and procedures/operations
  • To advance the knowledge of healthcare workers by organising lectures, seminars, workshops, etc.
  • To provide facilities for free flow of information, up to date knowledge and appropriate technology in the healthcare delivery sector
  • To strive to ensure that its programmes have built in mechanisms for sustainability
  • To commission and undertake research to support the above objectives
  • To do such things that are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects

Our Vision

The vision of Centre for African Health is the advancement of education and the relief of sickness in Africa, and in particular, Nigeria.

Mission Statement

The mission of the charity, in order to achieve the vision, is to contribute to the improvement in quality and access to basic health care in Nigeria, and increase the awareness of health issues affecting Nigerians.

Dr Femi Oduneye,
Chairman, Board of Trustees

Dr OlufemiOduneye is the founder and chair of the Board of Trustees of Centre for African Health. He is a public health physician of over 25 years experience. A medical graduate of the University of Ilorin with Masters in Public Health from the University of Liverpool and an MBA from University of Bath, UK. Femi is also a Fellow of the UK’s Faculty of Public Health. He worked in the UK National Health Service for over 10 years before exiting as a Director of Public Health.

Apart from his professional interest in public health issues, Femi is a sociopreneur with longstanding interest in the development of communities and the meeting of their health needs. He is currently a senior health manager with one of the largest oil and gas companies in the world and a member of the Board of Farnborough College of Technology, UK.

Mr Kola Alagbe,
Trustee

Mr James KolawoleAlagbe is an administrator, lecturer and legal practitioner of over 25 years experience. He has attended several training and development programmes in Nigeria and abroad including LLM. He has published several articles in journal in Nigerial and internationally, on legal and related matters. He has also undertaken consultancy assignments with seeral statutory agencies in Nigeria. He is currently the Director of Studies in the Local Government and Legislative Studies Departmet at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, Topo – Badagry. He is married with Children.

Mrs Bunmi Adetoye,
Trustee/Secretary to the board

Bunmi is a graduate of Estate Management that has developed keen interest in people and process management over the years. She has worked on different health programmes in different capacities including being the first Country Programme Manager for CAH as a volunteer. ‎She is an excellent stakeholder relationship manager and currently works for one of the leading Community Health Insurance management companies in Nigeria. She is married with Children.
